Mayor Honors Women in Construction

Mayor Haslam met with members of Chapter No. 61 of the National Association of Women in Construction today and presented them with a proclamation of declaring March 7-13 as "Women in Construction Week" in Knoxville. The chapter has distinguished itself as the voice of women in construction in the Greater Knoxville area and surrounding counties.
Road Closure at Cross Park Drive
There will be a road closure at Cross Park Drive just west of its intersection with Corporate Drive for a continuation of utility improvements at that site.
Both lanes will be closed during the construction.
The road will be closed beginning March 13 and is expected to remain closed until at least March 21.

March 16 Public Meeting Regarding Holbrook Drive Bridge Replacement
The City of Knoxville’s Engineering Department will host a public meeting on the planned replacement of the Holbrook Drive Bridge from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 16 at the First Baptist Church of Fountain City at 2801 Holbrook Drive. Preliminary plans for the new bridge will be presented at the meeting and there will be an opportunity for public input.

City Parks and Recreation Opens an Adopt-a-Park Program

City Parks and Recreation Department is launching an Adopt-a-Park program. “Parks serve as the front yard of our community,” said Mayor Bill Haslam. “A lot of people have a strong attachment to the parks they use and want to do something to help maintain and improve them. This program is a great way for them to become more involved with their favorite parks and it’s also going to be a great benefit to the city.”
