The Family Crimes Unit handles a variety of cases involving juveniles, domestic violence victims, sex offenders and the elderly.  The unit provides services to domestic violence victims ranging from safety planning, Order of Protection assistance, case investigation, and preparation for prosecution. The unit investigates crimes involving persons under the age of eighteen, primarily cases involving child sex abuse. The unit handles all missing persons cases, whether it involves a juvenile runaway or an adult. In addition, the unit works to safeguard our community by enforcing Sex Offender Registry Laws.

Most of these services are provided at the Family Justice Center (400 Harriet Tubman Street), which provides a non-threatening environment where victims and their families can feel safe. The Family Justice Center, which has been in operation since 2006, is supported by more than sixty partner agencies and is the gateway to our community’s resources for victims.
