Safety City Why-Who-What
KPD Safety Education
Here is a list of events the Knoxville Police Department will sponsor at Safety City during 2009:

Safety Fairs - children in grades 1-5 are targeted to participate in various traffic-related safety skill stations with an emphasis in bike safety. These events are scheduled for: May 2, 2009 and September 19, 2009.

Halloween in the City - families come to "trick or treat" at Safety City. Last year, Safety City sponsors and city departments sponsored trick or treat booths with a game or activity. About 100,000 pieces of candy were handed out, as well as carnival-type trinkets. In addition, we had a magician, clowns, inflatable and carnival games, karaoke, a costume contest, snow cones, cotton candy, hot dogs and drinks. About 6,500 people came to this three-hour event. This year Halloween in the City will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009.

Special Hours - Starting June 8 Safety City will be open for use by the general public on Mondays and Thursdays from 9a.m. until 7 p.m. through July 30 except for Thursday, July 16. Families may use the Safety City facility as a walking track (5 laps equals 1.25 miles), teach their children how to ride a bike or drive their battery-powered vehicles in a safe, unique environment. Parents must bring their own equipment-bicycles, helmets or cars. At least one adult must remain with their children at all times. Skateboards and motorized scooters are not permitted. For more information, please call 865 215-7103.
