Race Day

What: CrossKnox 15K Race for runners and walkers
This 9.3-mile race, presented by the City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation, is a course that is completely on greenways. This is a great chance to see how all of the greenways are connected and to view the scenic side of Knoxville. Runners and walkers are welcome to this certified race!

Where: Race: From Alex Haley Heritage Square to Bearden Elementary School ; Walk: from Alex Haley Heritage Square to the festival lawn in World's Fair Park.

When: October 11 , 2009 at 3 p.m.

Cost: $20 early registration; $25 after October 1 (cost includes short-sleeved, dri-fit t-shirt)

Awards: Male/female top three overall, first masters, grandmasters, veterans, Clydesdale/Athena; age-group winners (top three).

Finish Line Party: After the race, participants will be bussed back to Morningside Park for massages, award presentation, and food.

Registration: Online at www.crossknox.edgereg.com , by mail, or in person the Friday before and day of the event.

Race packet pick-up: Friday, October 9, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.- Located at Tyson Park
Day of Race-1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Morningside Park.

Family and friends viewing sites: Gov. Ned McWherter Park, Volunteer Landing, and Tyson Park.

Sites along the race: The City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department initiated this race to provide a tour of five connected greenways that show off Knoxville's beauty. Along the route, you will see:
