COURTESY BOXES
Public Services Division
Codes Enforcement Office
Solid Waste Office

The City of Knoxville’s Public Service Division provides courtesy dumpsters as a free service to all city residents “two” times per year. This program assists city residents with the removal of large amounts of bulky trash items (not brush) from private property. If residents request a trailer for brush, we can also provide this equipment. Examples of good usage are home cleanouts and neighborhood cleanups.

NOTE: These boxes are for tenants “only”, not landlords or realty companies who have purchased property for rent.

Due to the heavy demand, the waiting period before delivery can be as long as six weeks. Therefore, when a box is dropped on a Monday or Tuesday, it will be retrieved on Thursday. When dropped on a Thursday or Friday, it will be retrieved on Monday.

NOTE THE RESTRICTIONS POSTED ON THE BOX: “NO” tires, concrete, rock, construction debris (siding, sheetrock, roofing materials, 2x4s, etc.), dirt, gas cans, paint cans, or chemicals, etc.

* Contents are monitored during the disposal process and abuse of this policy will result in denial of any future request.

Call the Public Service Division Hotline at 865-215-6000 to schedule a courtesy box.
